Who are we?
The NCDCP is an institute for disease control and prevention and first of its kind in Nigeria. Since it is known that more than 90 percent of the deaths from infectious diseases (viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites) worldwide are caused by only a handful of diseases the need for an institute like NCDCP is necessary for the purposes of control and prevention. NCDCP will work collaboratively to help the Federal Ministry of Health control infectious diseases in Nigeria thus helping the Ministry better fulfill its role as the primary health coordinator of the nation. Its key function is to institute infectious disease surveillance, design prevention and control strategies. Public Health Information will be the means of informing the public in a culturally sensitive manner about the preventative care and control of diseases. NCDCP will train personnel and utilize research to achieve measurable health impact for the public.
